Pumpkin Pickin' at Milky Way Farm

This one is going to be short and sweet...

The end of pumpkin season is soon coming to an end. If you haven't gotten your pumpkin yet and want to enjoy the nice weather this week end, check out Milky Way Farm in Chester Springs, PA. There's a plethora of farms all around Philly but this one stands out to me not only for the beautiful countryside and laid back atmosphere but also for the one little extra thing that makes the 50 minute drive from Center City even more worth it.

Years ago I tried more popular and busy farms but they were never my cup of tea. Then I discovered Milky Way Farm, a small family run farm that has been my go to place for four years in a row now. It's a down to earth and real farm experience with no hoopla. There are animals to pet, a huge pumpkin patch you can either chose to walk to or take a hay ride to. You can grab a little wagon to pull your kids until the pumpkins take their place. There's a huge corn maze that's fun for both kids and adults alike. You can also do your groceries there and get veggies, fruits, eggs, meats and milk. But the best food they offer, that I mentioned as the little extra, is ice cream. Probably one of the best ice cream I've ever had. The black raspberry flavor is my favorite but they offer lots of other delicious flavors. I would drive to this farm for the ice cream alone. It's a nice little treat after spending some time in the pumpkin fields, and my kids look forward to it almost as much as I do.

The farm is open from 10 to 5 on weekends before halloween, but the ice cream shop is open until 9 pm. It's free to walk around except for the corn maze which is $3 a person. I've never encountered big crowds there. It's a simple Fall experience and I mean it in the best possible way.

Like I said, short and sweet, my pictures will tell the rest of the story.
